"Comfort Women": Clothing as a form of Advocation and Information
Individual Capstone Project
“Comfort Women” refers to young girls and women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese military during World War II. Multiple girls and women from multiple countries including Korea, my parent’s home country, were taken and forced into sexual slavery. However, this issue does not seem to be discussed often at all especially in America. My project aims to discuss the issue of “Comfort Women” and advocate for the support of “Comfort Women” who face repercussions to this day. I aim to do this through the creation of a form of clothing based off of Korean clothing styles from the time period of when “Comfort Women” were tricked into sexual slavery utilizing symbols that represent support for “Comfort Women”.
